This rare opportunity has been granted to our Clients by the Sanctuary’s Protectorate of Belize.
You can now experience the World of Howler Monkeys in their natural habitat!
This limited group excursion will take you to the Belize Low Pine Ridge Land, to the Town of Burrel Boom, where the nature reserve is located nearby.
The 40-minute drive from the Port of Belize City showcases the outskirts of Belize City, transitioning quickly to the Belize River and rainforest land. A driving tour of Belize City will be showcased following the Tour.
The orientation begins at the quaint museum found on site. An interpretive nature follows this walk into the Rainforest and into the World of the Black Howler Monkeys.
A short 10-minute walk in the Rainforest will take you into the Howler Monkey Habitat. You will find yourself in nature, surrounded by Howler Monkeys and pristine Rainforest.
The Howler Monkeys are in their natural habitat. The search for the many Families of Monkeys in the Rainforest is both thrilling and educational.
Your dedicated Tour Guide gives a medicinal plants showcase during the short search for Howler Monkeys. Due to the lush vegetation, many plants are found along the way that are the Monkey’s favorite food.
Listen closely to your Guide, as the plant’s leaves you will pick will have the Monkeys come down from the canopy to receive their favorite treat.
Protected due to its fragile ecosystem, the 20-square-mile rainforest sanctuary boasts well over 4,000 Black Howler Monkeys.
Conway, the area beneficiary, has dedicated his life to the protection of the largest Howler Monkey in the World, the Black Howler Monkey.
Belize, being a relatively young country, was initially settled for logging. Upon the discovery of the Country, Bermudian Landing was discovered and was preserved due to the large families of Baboons living in the area.
Conway, the area beneficiary, together with over 200 private landowners in the area, has pledged to conserve the Howler Monkey habitat. The area offers some of the most pristine rainforests in Belize.
The Belize Government further protected the Community Baboon Sanctuary as a National park in 1984.
This rare excursion in Belize is not to be missed.

Please note: Our excursion visits the Baboon Sanctuary Protectorate Park. It is not the “man-made” howler monkey zoo found on the outskirts of the Baboon Sanctuary Protectorate National Park.
Please do not expect African Baboons. The Black Howler Monkey was initially referred to as a “Baboon” by the first explorers of Belize, as there was no prior knowledge of the species at that time.
